Band Bucks
Band Bucks is a fundraiser that works
while you shop. Starting
this year you can order Band Bucks online at www.shopwithscrip.com.
Once you place your order online you can pay by cash or check at
the weekly drop off time or pay using your checking account for a 39
cent fee using Great Lake Scrip’s Presto Pay.
Another new feature this year is reloadable gift cards available
for CVS pharmacy, Starbucks and Gap/Old Navy stores.
Once you order one of their gift cards you can easily reload that
gift card online.
Together with Great Lakes Scrip, OEHS Band Boosters is able to
offer gift certificates from hundreds of national and local retailers.
They’re the same gift certificates you purchase at the store.
Many popular retailers participate in the program including JC
Penney, Kohl’s, The Gap, Jewel,, Dominicks, Walgreen’s, Pizza Hut,
Olive Garden and many others. Band
Bucks can be used for lots of household purchases including food,
clothing, entertainment, gasoline and dining out.
You’re probably asking yourself how these stores help us raise
money. It’s
simple—participating retailers agree to sell gift certificates to our
organization at a discount. Band
families buy the certificates at full face value and redeem them at full
face value. The discount is
split 50/50 between the band student’s account and the band
boosters’ general fund. The
band student’s account grows and the money raised helps pay for their
next band trip. The percent
raised can range from 1 ½ % up
to 25%. As an example:
Olive Garden offers a 9% reward.
If you buy $100 in Olive Garden gift certificates then $4.50
would go into the student’s account and $4.50 would go into the band
boosters’ general fund. The
gift certificates make great gifts….especially during the holidays!
The program just requires some advanced planning on your part.
You order and pay for the certificates one week and pick them up
the next.
Some of the more popular
gift cards include:
*Wal Mart - when used to purchase gas at Wal Mart you get an extra 3
cent per gallon discount.
*Kohls & JC Penneys – can be used to pay off your credit card
balance.
*Local restaurants featuring great discounts ranging from 7%-11%
include Olive Garden, Chipotle, TGI Fridays, Applebees,
Chili’s, Red Robin, Cold Stone Creamery, Arbys, Panera Bread, and
Starbucks.
*Fannie May Candy offers one of the highest discounts, which is
25%.
How
to register
To register with ShopWithScrip, first open up your web browser, and
go to www.shopwithscrip.com.
To register a new account, go to the orange Member’s
Login box on the right side, and click “Not a member? -Click
Here”. Follow the simple
registration instructions and accept the terms and conditions of using
the site.
The next screen you will see is called “join an
organization”. Before you
can place an order, you must join
our organization by entering our organization’s enrollment code,
which is LE14758B1L891. If
you choose to pay by cash or check you just need to drop off your
payment in the band room hallway during the designated weekly Band Buck
time. Just return the
following week to pick up your gift cards.
